The Blue Knights\u00ae International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club<\/strong>, is a non-profit fraternal organization consisting of active and retired law enforcement officers who enjoy riding motorcycles. In the Spring of 1974, several law enforcement officers*<\/strong> from the Bangor, Maine (USA) area met and formed a small, local motorcycle club. <\/p>\n\n\n

Soon, Blue Knight\nchapters were being formed in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and\nbeyond. With the addition of Canada, and later Australia, the Blue Knights\nbecame an international organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our charitable\norganization has contributed over $18.8 million dollars toward various\ncharities throughout the world since statistics were kept.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our organization is\ncomprised of active, and retired law enforcement officers and we strive to\npromote our organization as being a family fraternity. Spouses and children\noften accompany our members to the various rides and functions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Members can ride a\nbike of their choosing, and are not mandated to riding an American made\nmotorcycle (ie. Harley Davidson).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We do not have a\nprobationary period for members, or prospects, and women are equal in our\norganization not only as members, but in leadership positions locally and\ninternationally within the Blue Knights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our\nPledge<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As a Blue Knight, I pledge to act with honor and pride to\npromote motorcycling and motorcycle safety by being an example of the safe use,\noperation and enjoyment of motorcycles. I will work at all times to improve the\nrelationship between the motorcycling law enforcement community and the general\npublic. The fraternal spirit will always guide me in relating to other Blue\nKnights.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bylaws<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the\nBy-Laws, our purposes and goals are to: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. Provide for the mutual
    assistance, enjoyment, entertainment, education, physical, mental
    and social benefit of its members and the general public.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. To promote and advance
    the sport of motorcycling and the safety of motorcycling.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. To serve the interests
    of motorcycle owners and users.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. To promote by example
    and any other acceptable means, safe use, operation and enjoyment of
    motorcycles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. To develop a fraternal
    spirit between law enforcement personnel and the general public.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Benefits\nof Knighthood<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    It is difficult\nstating what makes the Blue Knights<\/strong>\u00ae<\/strong> so special. Perhaps the following will help explain the\nkinds of feelings that flow when a bunch of motorcycle-riding police officers\nget together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Knighthood is:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    • Enjoying the company of different people who share not
      only the common bond of a career in law enforcement, but also a love of
      motorcycles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Being able to visit your friends in any of our member
      countries and be treated like family.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Receiving get-well cards from people you’ve never met.
      (There are no strangers in the Blue Knights, only friends you haven’t
      met.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Riding with the Ladies of the Knights and Little
      Knights who give that added family touch.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Going to handicapped children’s camps, giving the kids
      rides and seeing the smiles on their faces.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Various fund-raising activities for those less
      fortunate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Being a Blue Knight is\nall this and much, much more.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Working\nwith Charities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Many Blue Knights work\nlong and hard to raise money for various charities. Especially near to our\nhearts is helping children. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Make-a-Wish\nFoundation, Toys for Tots, D.A.R.E., and Concerns of Police Survivors\n(C.O.P.S.) are some examples of our favorites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      We’re the good guys!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The Blue Knights is a\nfamily fraternity. Spouses and children often accompany our members to the\nvarious rides and functions. When travelling, local members can provide\nassistance, directions and sometimes a place to stay. We are truly a\nfamily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
